19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his first trophy for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a former world number one, has experienced a difficult season, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-term mentor Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks the player's first trophy following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court after spring of the previous year.

Success also indicates he has achieved 21 titles at 21 various competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my children simultaneously, so to get a title is especially meaningful," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child her name, because the first title I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his last six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's retrieving play style and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had led observers to question if his skill to play at the highest level was over.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to advance forward and compete assertively, backed up by an enhanced service.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, securing four of the final five points to gain the advantage.

The pair traded breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his initial tour title, took control to force a decider.

Moutet rescued four early-game opportunities in a competitive third set before the Russian won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, he clinched the win with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman unable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
