Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 cars have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Police say they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located numerous other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials say early analysis suggest the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; authorities are currently not aware of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they commented.
City officials stated they were trying "to resolve the case" and have requested to the public for tips.
A high-ranking official commented the attack left him speechless and needed to be solved rapidly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, referring to the killing of nine victims by a shooter focusing on residents of foreign heritage in five years prior.
